Introduction:
Maljaa, a pet accessory company, aimed to provide outdoor shelter for stray cats - one that offers protection from extreme heat while withstanding year-round outdoor conditions. The goal was to create a durable, climate-responsive structure that could be easily deployed in urban and rural environments alike, offering stray cats a safe, shaded refuge.
Outcomes:
• Optimised manufacturing efficiency and shipping cost through it's flat pack design.
• Incorporated a traditional architectural element (wind catcher) for passive cooling and ventilation.
• Designed roof overhangs and other features to maximise shade and airflow.
• Engineered for easy, self-guided assembly through interlocking joints and friction-fit components.
• High door placement to prevent accidental falls, ensuring safety for newborn cats.
• Includes removable features, such as door and rain blocker, for environmental adaptability.
