Introduction:
As part of the development of a children's modular furniture project, custom packaging was developed with a focus on interactive play and sustainability. The aim was to ensure the packaging could be interactively repurposed rather than discarded.
In line with the educational purpose of the hardware, the packaging was also designed to feature various activities and playful graphical elements that encourage children to unleash their creativity.
Further consideration was given to the unboxing experience, ensuring a smooth and intuitive transition from opening the package to assembling the product.
Outcomes:
• Giving the packaging a second life instead of being discarded.
• Launched successfully as part of a Kickstarter and received positive customer feedback.
• Harmoniously designed and styled with the hardware inside.
• Enhanced children's & parent's unboxing of the product.
• Developed internal layout/nesting of parts and graphical design elements.
• Created an instruction manual that seamlessly guides from unboxing to full assembly.
• Designed to be as small as possible to reduce costs, improve distribution and make manual handling easier.
